Thriving in Practice for Employees

Delegates: Suitable for all members of the practice team, the aim of this workshop is to support and equip individuals to feel confident in understanding veterinary workplace wellbeing; what wellbeing is, what factors affect our wellbeing at work, and what we can do to improve our wellbeing and to help us thrive, not just survive, in our work environment.

Programme outline: Throughout this session delegates will take a practical yet evidence-based approach, blending theory and best practice, along with techniques for maintaining and improving wellbeing. Including veterinary practice case studies, individuals are encouraged to share their own expertise and experience, as well as discuss current evidence and new techniques. IMG_20171127_143452(1)

Case studies are a key part of the training allowing delegates to explore the range of issues that can arise, obstacles to wellbeing, and how to address these. The theme throughout the session is a positive focus on thriving in practice, and how individuals can apply the evidence and tools in a sustainable way to work for them.

  • Thriving in practice: The wellbeing flower and evidence-based ways to maintain and improve wellbeing.
  • Understanding obstacles: Considering and addressing issues that can make wellbeing seem elusive.
  • Tools and techniques for individuals: What works for you.
  • Practical case studies: A real world approach to wellbeing.
  • Preventing problems: Understanding why difficulties of wellbeing can occur in a veterinary context, and what we can do about these to helps us to thrive again.

By the end of the workshop delegates will have;

  • Reviewed up-to-date evidence about wellbeing in the workplace, and what it means to thrive in practice.
  • Awareness of five key areas of wellbeing, illustrated by the wellbeing flower, and have considered practical steps to incorporating these into their working lives.
  • Prioritised the areas of wellbeing that matter to them and identified first steps in their development
